Laura Friedman currently serves CA-30 in the United State House of Representatives, continuing a long record of progressive leadership and public service. During her time in the California State Assembly and now in Congress, Laura has worked to address the issues facing working families and deliver real results for her community.

Since arriving in Washington, Laura has been a consistent voice for public education, affordability, our environment, and safeguarding our democracy. She is committed to defending fundamental rights and expanding opportunity, shaped by a lifelong commitment to equality and justice that began early in her life.

Prior to her election to Congress, Laura served on the Glendale City Council and as Mayor, and later as a State Assemblymember, where she led efforts to combat climate change, prevent gun violence, protect reproductive freedom, defend the LGBTQ+ community, and expand housing affordability. Her legislative work has helped create more affordable housing across California and advanced policies to support vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing severe mental illness and homelessness.

In Congress, Laura is focused on advancing bold national solutions—expanding access to affordable housing, supporting universal healthcare and childcare, strengthening economic security for families, and protecting democratic institutions. She continues to be a strong advocate for progressive values and for policies that ensure every family has the opportunity to thrive.

Laura lives in Glendale with her husband, Guillaume Lemoine, a landscape designer, and their daughter, Rachel.
